Weekly Newsletter - 3rd July 2023

A note from Lindell:

Half way through 2023!

Can you believe it! I can't.

I had one of my best friend and her family fly in to stay with us. We headed up to the Blue Mountains for a lovely week away together too.
Unfortunately Influenza was with us the whole time and still remains. 5 out of 8 of us have had it so far.
Fingers crossed it stays that way.
Then yesterday I had a ball booted into my face during my soccer match. I couldn't see out of one eye for a few hours and my nose was bleeding. Feeling bruised and sorry for myself but also grateful I haven't got the flu with my bruised nose.

All that to say, I jumped on the scales this morning and my weight was the same as it was a week and a half ago.

I haven't been living exactly how I want to live over the past week. We've had wine, eaten chips and chocolate and whatever else I felt like in the moment.

Here's my evaluation:
What worked - Saying no to breakfast every day and fasting. I did have milk in my coffee during my fast, not sure if that worked or didn't work for me? I'll leave that to ponder without judgement.
I also used a very basic hunger scale. When I was eating I asked myself if I'd had enough. I stopped when I had.
I stopped at 1-2 drinks when we drank. Had just a few chocolates and didn't keep picking.
I drank peppermint tea in the evenings.

What didn't work - honestly I think most of it worked. If I think about what I would like to have changed it might be to add more salad to the week or to have made a different choice when out for lunch. But I feel really calm and free about the decisions I did make. I have no judgement.

What would I do differently next time - I'm not sure. I would consider black coffee in the fasting window and maybe a little less chocolate. Have more salad possibly too. The only reason I'd want to change anything is to change is how I feel right now but with the week I've had I think how I feel right now is natural.

(this has been typed straight from my brain without editing. To me it's calm freedom).

So today I pause, take a few deep breaths and plan for my week ahead...

And the next 30 Days!

Today we begin 30 Days of Practice where we will focus on Step 4 - Allow your Feelings.

Use your 30 Day Planner to set yourself up for a great 30 days.

The only things I encourage you to focus on in the 30 days is:
- Setting a plan
- Tracking
- Practicing the hunger scale.

If you do these 3 things, keep doing them.

These 3 things are critical to creating calm and freedom around food.

If you want to stack another habit on top of those 3, practice thought work or feelings work (we'll be focusing on this this month).

This may sound a lot like the last 30 days, or the 30 days before that but that's because this is what works. Practice of the 6 steps is what creates small changes in your life that step you closer and keep you maintaining progress.

Let's have a wonderful 30 Days of practice and progress.

Light up your life.

Love Lindell xo
