Mindset - My mindset on the field

In summer I play in a Summer Soccer Comp (football for many of you).

It's a casual comp. You rock up on a Thursday night at 7pm if you can make it and they put you into a team.

You might be in a different team each week.

The very first night it was stinking hot (Aussie for VERY hot) and halfway through the 2nd half a howling wind swirled up and then it bucketed down (rained heavy) and we kept on playing.

We were women aged from late 20's through to late 60's playing soccer in the pouring rain that was blowing in from the side.

I giggled the whole time and played with the biggest smile on my face.

It was absolute joy for me and reminded me of my childhood.

And since that night, every Thursday night when I can make it, I show up and play with a massive smile on my face.

There's women there who grumble the whole time and get annoyed.

There's women there who apologise every time they kick the ball.

There's women there who don't even go for the ball because they think everyone else is better than them.

And there's a heap of women there who get in and give in their best.

And I was thinking on the weekend after my Sunday game "what is it that makes it so awesome and what is the difference between us who show up each week and those who came once or twice during the summer?"

And it got me reflecting and highlighting to myself what my mindset it.

Let me share my model with you from the bottom up:

Results:
Scored at least 4 goals
Surprised everyone including myself with some of my fluke moves/skills
Feel so much joy and have a whole heap of fun,
have built some great relationships,
got invited into a new winter team and joined it,
Improved my fitness, skills and strength
Motivated to train and prepare

Actions:
Showed up as often as I could
Showed up with enthusiasm and supported every single woman who showed up each week.
Cheered loud for everyone
Tried really hard each week
I tried A LOT without hesitation for making mistake. I reckon I'd do a good thing 1 out of every 20 things I tried.
Practiced outside of the game days
Did other fitness to help myself improve
Made jokes with other women and kept it fun.
Changed a work call so I could get there as often as I could (thanks Prima's)

Feelings:
Excited
Proud
Supported
Permission (to not be perfect)
Dedicated
Important
Joy
Fun
Happy

Thoughts:
We are amazing women!
We seriously are incredible.
I'm so proud of each of us for showing up and giving it a go.
I LOVE playing soccer.
This is like being a child again, it's so much fun.
Each game I show up to and put in effort will give me more experience and improve my skills (have me progress).
This is exactly how I want to live my life long term. It's so much fun.
I take the field with so many incredible women. (Note: I have no idea what these women do off the field).
We stand on the filed together as a team, we are awesome.

Ha ha, I could go on and on but most of my thoughts are around feeling like a warrior.

I feel so empowered.

And that exactly how I feel around you Tribies too.

I feel like we take the filed (of life) each day.

We show up and step up, side by side.

I think:
We are amazing women!
We seriously are incredible.
I'm so proud of each of us for showing up and giving it a go.
Each day I show up to and put in effort will give me more experience and improve my skills (have me progress).

I take the field (day) with so many incredible women.
