Rewarding yourself when you lose weight

I've shared with you the work I've been doing personally lately with my coach. The work of feeling and allowing the feeling of success and pride.

I had been resisting the feeling, adding more on my do list, pushing onto the next goal... anything and everything to avoid feeling success.

It was SO uncomfortable for me.

And on reflection that's what I did when I got to goal weight. I never truly sat with the success, the achievement, and allowed myself to feel it.

I kind of knew it was happening because I kept reminding myself of my success, I kept pointing the change out to my husband, and I kept highlighting how much weight I'd lost.

BUT I never truly allowed myself to 'feel' the success. I'd always highlight it and move on, buffering with more actions or more planning.

Today on my weekly call with my coach, I was able to really sit in the feeling of success, allow it, bask in it and feel it.

I felt resistance come up and then I breathed and focused on allowing the feeling.

We really celebrated this milestone of growth and progress I've had and I've been practicing allowing it all day.

What I've just realised is that when I haven't allowed the feeling of success I've pushed on with actions and plans in an attempt to create  the feeling of success.

What the heck brain!

That just doesn't make sense OR add up BUT that's what I was doing.

And when I think about it, whenever you weigh and the results are great and you think to yourself "I've done so well I deserve a reward" you are actually in fact taking the reward away from yourself.

The reward IS feeling success, feeling great, feeling proud.

So, next time you hear yourself saying "I deserve a reward" after your weigh in, check in with your body and ask yourself to allow whatever feeling comes up to be there.

Breath, sit in it and feel it.

This will be life changing for so many.
